The crossover received a new 1.5-liter turbo engine.

Ford, in partnership with Jiangling Motors, has presented another new product, which is planned to be sold exclusively in the Middle Kingdom. Equator Sport was officially unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show. The novelty will compete with the Honda CR-V and has a harsh exterior and a spacious interior.

The name of the new item raises questions, since in March 2021 Ford has already released a large three-row Equator. But despite the fact that the models have received the same name, they differ significantly. For example, the Equator Sport has a wheelbase of 2,765 mm, which is 140 mm less than the larger Equator (2,865 mm).

However, despite the differences in technical data, both models have a similar design. The Equator Sport features a large grille and slim LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs. Also worth noting is the muscular side profile with wide wheel arches, 20-inch wheels and plastic cladding at the bottom of the doors.

The salon is designed for five passengers, who can sit comfortably enough, while the larger Equator has a 6- or 7-seater layout. The front panel design also includes two screens.

Under the hood is a 1.5-liter petrol turbo engine, which, according to company representatives, is completely new and is used for the first time in a production model. The peak power of the unit reaches 170 horsepower and 260 Newton meters of torque, and an automatic transmission is used as a transmission. While there is no data on the drive, it is assumed that it can be front or full. The declared maximum speed is 180 kilometers per hour.
