On the eve of the photo spies watched the car, which may be a prototype of a Ford passenger car based on the MEB architecture. The all-electric vehicle is based on the same platform as the ID.3 and ID.4. They plan to sell it in Europe.
The shape of the compact crossover can be seen here. Ford chose this car in a different design direction than the ID.4 electric car, preferring straight, square lines to VW’s smooth, rounded lines. This solution also makes this look long and low. Unfortunately, a little more can be gleaned from these early images.
The car is not expected to go into production until 2023 at Ford’s Cologne assembly plant in Germany. While Ford hasn’t released any performance specs, a lot is already known about the MEB platform at this point. ID.4.
For example, the range is 402 km, according to the EPA, and up to 302 hp. in AWD configuration or 201 hp in RWD config.
As part of the deal, Ford agreed to share its Transit pickup and chassis. This means that soon these electric vehicles will not be the only co-production cars of Ford and VW to drive on the roads of Europe. The next Volkswagen Amarok pickup is expected to have a lot in common with the Ford Ranger, although the American manufacturer still believes it will be better. Volkswagen will also receive a full-size van.
