French gendarmes will receive 26 sports cars Alpine A110

Job applications for the French National Gendarmerie Police Service may increase slightly on news that the police will receive a fleet of Alpine A110 sports cars.

The French Ministry of the Interior has announced that it has ordered 26 A110 Pure sports cars, the base model in Alpine’s sports car range, as part of a police fleet ‚Äúrejuvenation and modernization‚ÄĚ process. The new sports cars will take the place of the Renault Megane RS, which has served in the gendarmerie since 2011. While the two-seater A110 is not as practical as the old Renaultsport Megane, it should be much faster.

The A110 Pure is powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 249 hp. Up to a hundred such a sports car will accelerate in just 4.5 seconds, and its maximum speed is 250 km / h.

For the French gendarmerie, this is not the first experience of owning an Alpine sports car. Back in the 1960s, French police used the original A110.

The new vehicles will be equipped with police lights, sirens and radio equipment from specialist retrofit company Durisotti.

With the new transport, gendarmes will be able to monitor road safety by tracking reckless drivers on the roads. And fast sports cars can help fight drug trafficking, explain your decision to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

There are many cars that can overtake the Alpine, and its maneuverability may not seem well suited to motorway operations. But the French authorities love to buy domestic products. Local media reports further orders for Alpine may follow, with an Alpine SUV and a four-door GT on the way.
