The Toyota Supra sports coupe from the first two films of the popular Fast and Furious movie franchise was auctioned at Barrett-Jackson for a record US $ 550,000.
The 1994 car was used for the filming of the original 2001 Fast and Furious and 2003 Twin Fast and Furious. The Japanese coupe was driven by actor Paul Walker, who died in 2013.
It’s worth noting that this is not the same car that went for $ 185,000 in 2015. That coupe was released in 1993 and is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter 2JZ-GE engine with 220 hp. with a five-step “mechanics”. The existence of two apparently identical coupes can be easily explained: several copies were made for filming.
The 1994 Toyota Supra uses a 3.0-liter inline-six 2JZ-GTE, which develops 324 hp. and 427 Nm. An interesting fact: despite the fact that the sports car has a four-speed “automatic”, for the sake of filming, the mode selector is disguised as a “mechanics” lever.
The car is equipped with 19-inch Racing Hart M5 wheels, a huge rear wing on the trunk lid, a three-spoke racing wheel, blue buckets, and a set of additional sensors on the dashboard and roof pillar.
This Toyota Supra is one of the most legendary cars in the history of cinema.
