Future models of Porsche GT will not be electrified

Despite the priority strategy for the electrification of Porsche’s sports cars will still be powered by traditional internal combustion engines.

The command units of the Porsche GT has no plans to electrify the sports model Porsche 911 GT3, GT3 RS, GT2 RS and Cayman GT4 718.

“There are ideas, perhaps look in this direction to the usual line of sports cars, but not on the GT cars. If we decided to make all cars electrified in one night, we would have reason to understand it, but it needs to be a link between the machines that we use on the race track, and the cars that we sell officially,” – said in an interview with the head of Department Andreas Preuninger.

The members of the Board of Directors of Porsche understand the importance of having a hardcore GT models for the brand, despite the fact that the company is focused on producing “green” cars. All three types of vehicles are the basis of the production strategy of the brand.
