Geely, which is cooler than Volvo?!

Geely unveiled its new flagship crossover at the Shanghai Auto Show. On the local market, it will be sold under the name Xingyue L: this specification from the manufacturer suggests that the model may appear in other countries.

In terms of design, Xingyue L builds on the philosophy of last year’s Preface concept. Exterior features include an Expanding Cosmos grille with vertical bars and matrix headlights, each with 126 individually controllable LEDs to create a variety of lighting effects. The taillights are made using a similar technology, they consist of 176 LEDs and symbolize with their pattern “cosmic radiance”.

In the two-tone interior design, the developers tried to combine the styles of the East and the West. On the front panel there is a one meter wide screen with a resolution of 1920×720. The equipment includes 72-color ambient lighting and premium Bose speakers with 10 speakers.

The technical basis for the Xingyue L was the CMA modular platform: the Tugella, forties Volvo, the Polestar 2 electric car and all models of the Lynk & Co. brand were built on it. Of the sizes, the company has so far revealed only the track (1610 mm) and wheelbase (2845 mm).

Xingyue L is the first Geely car with a level of autonomy above the second. She received a large set of all kinds of sensors and cameras, as well as support for 5G networks, which made it possible to implement a full-fledged car parker: the crossover can move 200 meters away from the owner, independently find and take a place, and then return from it on command. Over-the-air software updates are also provided.

The Geely Xingyue L engine range consists of two two-liter “turbo four”, developed in conjunction with Volvo. They develop 218 hp. (325 Nm) and 238 hp. (380 Nm). Acceleration to hundreds will take 7.9 and 7.7 seconds, respectively. There are also two gearboxes – an eight-speed automatic Aisin and Geely’s own seven-speed robot. The drive is full, with a BorgWarner clutch. The drive mode selection system has five settings: Eco, Norm, Sport, Snow and Offroad.

Geely Xingyue L will enter the Chinese market in the coming weeks. The international version is expected to debut.
