The Matrix Resurrection, the fourth film in the Matrix series, debuted in the US over the weekend. The audience was in for a surprise from Mercedes-Benz: a huge red pill was placed in front of the Castro Theater in San Francisco, into which a Mercedes-AMG G 63 was stuck. It was no coincidence that the Gelik was there. The SUV takes part in one of the chase scenes in the film – it is driven by Neo / Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss).
A giant hollow pill with a translucent body reaches a length of 12 meters and a height of 3.5 meters. This is a reference to the decision of the protagonist of “The Matrix”, Neo: in the first film, choosing between blue and red pills, he chose the last one to get out of the Matrix and face reality.
“The G-Class and the red pill go well together. They stand for freedom, individuality and self-determination, which is why we are pleased to support Warner Bros. Pictures with an unusual installation, “said Emmerich Schiller, CEO of Mercedes-Benz G GmbH.
“Gelendvagen” is not the first time placed in a huge “container”: in 2018, the 1979 G-Class was immersed in synthetic resin. The art object was supposed to promote the new “Gelik”, symbolize the timelessness of the model, and at the same time be associated with the fossil remains trapped in amber.
