Brand new Genesis G80, which appeared on the market in South Korea in March and was purchased by a local resident about a month ago, broke while driving. The fire started in the front of the car, and before the arrival of firefighters the front fenders and the tires had melted, and the bumper and hood completely burnt out.
About the incident journalists were told by the owner of the car. According to 54-year-old woman, at the entrance to the tunnel she noticed the road debris. When they leave the tunnel, lit up warning light, low pressure, and from under the hood of the car billowed smoke and escaped the flames. She skidded to a stop, parked the car on the roadside and left the salon. Arrived on-call rescuers managed to extinguish the car just seven minutes, but by that time the front part of the G80 was already destroyed by fire.
At the scene was found a burned-out air filter from the truck. According to the preliminary version, it ran over the woman, the item came into contact with the bottom Genesis G80, there were sparks and the sedan caught fire. However, the real causes of the incident are still mounted. In Hyundai, which owns the brand Genesis was conducting its own investigation – for this they requested the video from the cameras from the police.
Genesis G80 the new generation debuted in late March. The sedan moved to the new platform, which underpins the GV80 and also acquired petrol engines volume of 2.5 and 3.5 liters capacity of 304 and 380 horsepower. In South Korea, the prices for a novelty start from 43 thousand dollars.
