Genesis has published a teaser, which revealed the date of the premiere of the mysterious novelty. Judging by the picture on it, an electric crossover under the designation GV70e – the “green” version of the GV70, will be presented at the Shanghai Motor Show on April 19.
The teaser shows a part of the front end of the new model with a plug in place of the radiator grill and two branded head optics stripes. Despite the fact that the title of the first electric crossover of the South Korean brand was predicted by the GV60, it is likely to be outstripped by the GV70 with the letter e, the prototype of which has already been photographed during test drives.
The GV70e will not get the new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) developed for Hyundai, Genesis and Kia electric cars. The model will be a version of the fuel-powered GV70 with an all-electric power plant.
As for the GV60, which was supposed to debut first, it will be the first electric crossover of the brand that has no analogue with an internal combustion engine. The compact novelty will be based on the E-GMP “cart”, which it will share with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and KIA EV6. It was also reported that the GV60 will receive a quick charge function up to 100 kilometers in five minutes, four-wheel drive and a power reserve of up to 500 kilometers.
At the end of March, Genesis showed a concept coupe called Concept X, which it showed the latest design developments. Probably, the brand will issue all six electric cars in a similar style, the names for which it patented in February: G70e, G80e, G90e, GV70e, GV80e and GV90e. To date, Genesis has announced the development of the G80e, which, by analogy with the GV70e, will be a battery-powered version of the G80 sedan.
