TheKoreanCarBlog has spy shots of the new Genesis electric sedan (Hyundai’s premium brand), which will be based on the Genesis G80. Based on the photos, the car will receive solar panels on the roof – for additional recharge of the batteries.
The car is partially covered with camouflage, but it is noticeable that the electric car will differ from the standard sedan with internal combustion engines with a modified front end of the body with a “closed” radiator grille, other special aerodynamic wheels, and the absence of exhaust pipes.
The development of the Genesis electric sedan first became known in September last year, when the first spy photos of the car appeared. In addition, around the same time, the Koreans registered a new designation for the electric car – Genesis eG80.
According to preliminary data, the new sedan, which will compete with the Tesla Model S and Mercedes-Benz EQS, will be equipped with two electric motors that transmit traction to both axles. Genesis eG80 will be able to drive more than 500 kilometers without recharging batteries.
Genesis is also currently developing an electric crossover, which is still known internally as JW. As expected, the premiere of the serial versions of both electric cars of the South Korean brand will take place in the next two years.
