For the first time in its history, the American magazine Time has compiled a list of the 100 most significant companies in the world, which, according to the publication, “have the greatest impact on the future.” These include four automakers: American General Motors and Tesla, German Volkswagen and Chinese BYD.

Concern General Motors, whose head Marie Barra got on the cover of the magazine, was sent to the category of “Giants”. The company was included in the list for its contribution to the development of green technologies. However, the editors noted a significant difference between GM and Tesla.

Tesla, in turn, was among the Destroyers with the characteristic of “a relatively young automaker that has become one of the leaders in the field of renewable energy.

Chinese BYD, backed by American investor Warren Buffett, has been named Innovator for developing a wide variety of electric mobility solutions.

Finally, Volkswagen has been named a Leader for its attempt to lead the EV race. It is worth noting that the Germans intend to become the world’s largest manufacturer of vehicles with zero harmful emissions by 2025.

Recall that in April 2021, the Volkswagen ID.4 electric crossover won the World Car of the Year (WCOTY) competition. According to the results of voting in the final, the German model bypassed the city electric car Honda e and the compact hatchback Toyota Yaris.
