GM will build a new SUV for the U.S. army

GM Defense LLC, a subsidiary of General Motors, built for the us army new SUVs ISV (Infantry Squad Vehicle) and take their service. In the first batch will consist of 649 cars, the total amount of the order – 2065 machines. It will cost taxpayers 214,3 million dollars.

GMD ISV – lightweight and maneuverable all-terrain vehicle designed for nine soldiers. It’s compact enough to fit in the helicopter, a CH-47 Chinook. Also, the vehicle can be transported by suspension of UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter.

The basis for ISV was the Chevrolet Colorado pickup of the specimen 2020, specifically his extreme modification with ZR2 suspension Chevrolet Performance. The GM emphasized that the military machine is on 90% consists of the same components as a civilian. All ISVs will be equipped with a 2.8-liter 189-horsepower Duramax turbodiesel combined with a six-speed automatic.
