GM is clearly not going to let Ford go ahead in the electrification race. On the eve, the GMC brand confirmed to reporters that another full-size electric pickup will appear in its model line. And he will arrive at the “due time”.
Duncan Aldred, Vice President of Global Sales for Buick and GMC, spoke to Automotive News about the appearance of a second electric pickup, in addition to the Hummer EV.
There are few details about the future electric pickup. Moreover, Aldred did not answer the question whether the announced pickup will bear the name of its counterpart with an internal combustion engine – GMC Sierra.
Thanks to inside information, we know that the Silverado EV (let’s call it this before the official name announcement) will be produced alongside the Hummer EV at GM Factory Zero in Detroit. And most likely, the novelty will receive an advanced Ultium battery.
There is no information about the release date of the second electric pickup yet.
It is possible that the novelty will be presented next year as a model of 2023. Without recharging, the novelty, according to forecasts of auto experts, will be able to drive about 644 kilometers, if you focus on the Silverado EV.
In any case, more interesting details about the new GMC electric pickup will appear in the coming months. We will follow the news of the automaker.
