Got it: Dodge copies China

The original Dodge Journey lasted 12 years on the assembly line and was discontinued in 2020. But this name will be used again. So, the second generation Dodge Journey is the same crossover for Mexico, which was announced in early September of this year. The ceremonial start of the production of these cars took place in China the other day.

The new Dodge Journey crossover is a slightly revised second-generation GAC GS5 model introduced in 2018. The GAC GS5 crossover is equipped with a 1.5 turbo unit (137-169 hp) and exclusively front-wheel drive, a choice of 6-speed manual transmissions or “automatic” Aisin. The converted car under the Dodge brand differs from the original by a different radiator grill. In this case, more detailed information about the new product will appear a little later.

Concern Stellantis chose this partner for a reason. Back in 2010, the GAC-FCA joint venture was formed to produce Jeep crossovers for the Chinese car market, including the original Grand Commander model. However, this cooperation is only going beyond the borders of China at the moment. For the GAC concern, this project is a formal expansion of the export geography of supplies, albeit not under its own logo. The GAC is now active in 26 markets and is making its first appearance in North America with the new Dodge Journey.

Although it is definitely an unfinished replica, I would be interested in contact details, anyway. Maybe this could be an interesting project.
