Great Wall Motor has a new plant outside of China. The company acquired from Daimler the Brazilian plant that builds Mercedes-Benz C-Class and GLA models.
The new venture will be the fourth for Great Wall Motor outside of China. The Chinese company already has factories in our country, India and Thailand, which they once bought from General Motors.
The agreement with Daimler on the sale of the plant in Brazil has already been signed. The auto manufacturing facility, which began operations in 2016, is located in Iracemapolis near São Paulo and employs 600 people who build Mercedes-Benz C-Class and GLA for the local car market. The plant is designed to produce 20,000 auto units per year.
Great Wall Motor will hire over 1,500 employees and increase production capacity to 100,000 vehicles per year.
