Hatchback Sol E10X joins the ranks of cheap electric cars


JAC Volkswagen has opened orders for the Sol E10X electric hatchback in China. Prices for seven trim levels range from 39,900 to 78,900 yuan ($ 6,100 to $ 12,100). The electric motor produces 30 kW (41 hp, 95 Nm) or 45 kW (61 hp, 150 Nm), so the top speed is 102 km / h. The drive is purely front. There are three lithium iron phosphate batteries to choose from: a capacity of 15 kWh means a range of 150 km (NEDC), 19.7 kWh – 200 km, 30.2 kWh – 302 km.

A clone of the JAC iEV6E model inherited its suspension: McPherson struts and a semi-independent beam. Most versions have drum brakes at the rear, wheels (165/65 R14) – steel, and headlights – halogen. Hatch dimensions: 3650 x 1670 x 1495 mm, between axles 2390.

The only charging port is on the left front fender, and there are more questions about charging than answers. The volume of the trunk is not specified, which is traditional for the “Chinese”. The body color palette consists of seven colors, including pink and blue. All of them can be combined with a black roof (no panoramic).

Not very security. One driver’s airbag, ABS and Isofix mounts are installed by default. The second cushion appears in three “top” versions, and ESP is the prerogative of the top version. Parking sensors are only at the rear. The steering wheel is not adjustable for departure. There is no need to pay extra for the electric drive of all windows and exterior mirrors.

The salon is available for four and five. The fabric finish is inferior to leatherette only in the top version. The transmission modes are changed by the steering column lever. The air conditioner is “in the base”. The diagonal of the tidy is 6.2 inches, the main screen is 7 or 10.25. The console houses a start button, electronic parking brake and cup holders.

More expensive configurations have keyless access and start (including remote control), cruise control with speed limiter, media center with voice control and “over the air” updates, wireless charging for smartphones, two USB ports, and so on. The original JAC iEV6E is no longer produced or sold. Sol E10X has plenty of competitors. For example, Wuling MiniEV costs 28,800–38,800 yuan ($ 4,400– $ 6,000), Baojun E300 asks for 64,800–84,800 ($ 10,000– $ 13,000).
