Haval has begun road testing the large crossover, the serial version of the X Dog concept car, which debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show this spring. Spy photos of the novelty were at the disposal of Autohome.com.cn: Chinese journalists found out that the “product” model will be based on the L.E.M.O.N platform, and the range of engines will include two-liter “turbo-fours” with a capacity of 169 and 211 horsepower.
Autohome.com.cn suggests that for the time being, the unnamed crossover will share the truck and engine range with the younger Haval DaGou, also known as the Big Dog or Big Dog.
The test prototype of the novelty, which got into the lens of spy cameras, almost exactly repeats the concept of Haval X Dog. However, if the X Dog had retractable door handles, and the rear door handles were located in the pillars, then the production version has them traditional. At the same time, the general proportions and other stylistic features have been preserved: a box-shaped body, round front optics, square wheel arches and a massive radiator grille.
There are no pictures of the interior of the serial crossover yet, so it is not yet known whether it got the screens from the concept. X Dog had several of them: in addition to the virtual dashboard and the screen of the multimedia system, the show car was equipped with displays on the steering wheel, central tunnel and door cards.
The serial X Dog will debut sometime in 2022. The company will probably talk about the prospects for the emergence of a model outside of China later.
