WRC Champion Colin McRae’s Subaru WRX rally has gone under the hammer at the LloydsAuctions online auction. An anonymous buyer chose to pay for the car with bitcoins, having paid for it in traditional currency, 360 thousand dollars.
Despite such a rich history, the Japanese racing car has been in the barn for a long time and few people knew how valuable it is.
When they found out about him at the auction house, the price of the car did not exceed 15 thousand dollars. However, after it became clear that such world rally champions as Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz were driving this WRX, the cost of the car increased dramatically, increasing dozens of times.
The sedan sold at the auction was equipped with an original 2-liter “supercharged” engine, working in conjunction with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Colin McRae, who played for Subaru in the WRC, won the driver’s title in 1995 at the age of 27, becoming the youngest world rally champion. In 2007, the driver died in a plane crash.
