With a bright livery, the BMW brand marked the beginning of production of the model in Mexico, from where the cars will be delivered to other countries.
At the BMW plant in the Mexican city of San Luis Potosi, the production of the new BMW 2-Series coupe has started. For this event, the local division of the company has prepared an unusual art car with a bright livery, which is a combination of the German and Mexican flags.
According to the BMW Blog, 8 colors were used to paint the body of this car, they were applied in several layers (in some areas there are 5). The process took 5 weeks as each layer had to be allowed to dry before applying the next one. In total, it took 6 liters of paint to paint the car, as well as 2.5 liters of varnish. This 2-Series Coupe will not go on sale.
Recall that the BMW 2-Series model changed its generation this summer. The two-door retained the rear-wheel drive, and also received optics in the style of the 02 series models produced in the 60-70s of the 20th century. Four modifications are announced, all with an 8-band automatic. The base engine is a petrol “four” with a capacity of 184 hp, which accelerates the coupe from zero to the first “hundred” in 7.5 seconds.
Next comes the 220d version with mild hybrid technology (190 hp; 400 Nm; 6.9 seconds to 100 km / h) and the 245 hp 230i modification, which will only go on sale in the summer of 2022. The top coupe M240i xDrive is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-six (374 horsepower) and accelerates to 100 km / h in 4.3 seconds.
