The American division of Honda introduced a hybrid “cityradio” Insight 2021 model year. The sedan has expanded the list of equipment.
The very first hybrid, the Honda Insight debuted in 1999, it was a small three-door hatchback with a very specific design. The second-generation model entered the market in 2009, it looks almost repeated the Toyota Prius. Five years later the “second” Insight left the Assembly line, and not being able to overtake Toyota: for example, in 2010 (the best year for the model) in the States had implemented 20 962 hybrid Honda vs 141 000 purchases of Priuses.
In 2018, the Insight was revived in the form of an elegant sedan (its closest relative – Civic), but the Prius model is still not bypassed. So, at the end of last year in the US, selection on the hybrid Honda stopped 23 686 customers, the Prius has gained 69 718 owners. However, Honda apparently are satisfied, after all, announced today Insight 2021 model year new things a little bit.
Neither outside nor inside “cityradio” has not changed, except that the palette of exterior colors added a new shade of Radiant Red Metallic. In the middle and top versions have a monitoring system “blind” zones and warning of cross traffic. As before, all versions feature led optics and a complex security system Honda Sensing (adaptive cruise control, auto brake system, hold in the lane and the automatic headlight switch). The cheapest sedan is multimedia with 5-inch screen, the other variants – 8-inch display. The prerogative of the top version – leather interior, heated seats, dual-zone climate control.
The technique also did not change: installation of i-MMD consists of operating at an economical Atkinson cycle petrol “atmosfernika” 1.5 and two electric motors, one connected to internal combustion engines (working in generator mode), and the second rotates the front wheels; a lithium-ion battery located under the rear sofa.
