Honda showed electric cars of the “new wave”

In October, Honda unveiled its electrification strategy in China and announced that it will launch ten new models on the Chinese market within five years. They will be combined into the e: N Series, dividing production between the Dongfeng Honda JV and GAC Honda. The first two electric cars – the e: NS1 and e: NP1 – will start selling in the spring of 2022, and later will be joined by the angular e: N Coupe, the e: N SUV crossover and the e: N GT liftback. The company brought the models of the first two to the Guangzhou Auto Show.

The motto of the e: N Series is Dynamics, Intelligence and Beauty. These are three pillars that describe e: N Architecture, e: N OS, and e: N Design. As you can see in the photos, both the coupe and the crossover are distinguished by an angular body with many facets, “aerodynamic” wheels and artsy optics. It is also known that the Honda Sensing safety complex, Honda Connect online services and a digital cockpit will be integrated into the cars at the on-board software level.

There are no technical characteristics, but the parameters of the first two electric cars are known: e: NS1 and e: NP1. On one battery, electric cars of the “new wave” will be able to travel up to 500 kilometers (NEDC), and to accelerate to a hundred will take about eight seconds. The e: N Coupe and e: N SUV are likely to perform better thanks to new powertrain components and batteries from CATL, as well as the improved Sensing 360 electronic assistants.

Its implementation in China will begin next year. By 2030, the Sensing 360 will be on all models for key markets. The complex will include intersection control, active lane change assistant, frontal collision avoidance system and cornering speed tracking.
