Keeping the Q5 e-tron name for the new electric SUV, which will be sold exclusively in China, has forced Audi to change its strategy for a similar new model for Europe. According to a new internal document, the car will be named Audi Q6 e-tron.
The new electric SUV that the German brand is developing as a replacement for the Q5 e-tron for Europe will therefore be called the Audi Q6 e-tron. Until now, there has been no documentary evidence that the Ingolstadt firm has used this name to refer to the most sustainable and efficient version of the Q5 line, with the exception of some statements by Markus Düsmann.
It should be noted that the Audi Q6 e-tron and the new Porsche Macan Electric will technically be almost identical. The two models use the new Premium Electric Vehicle Platform, known for short as “PPE”, with some differences. In particular, the Audi model will be larger.
The new Audi Q6 e-tron will be one of the greatest innovations next year. The German company plans to unveil this new electric vehicle in April 2022, so its commercial launch will be delayed until early summer. The new model rises upward, with a clear increase in size, although its slimmer design, lower headroom and slightly longer length will allow it to offer a five-seater cabin with more room for comfortable movement.
Under the body and passenger compartment, the Q6 e-tron will have a lithium-ion battery located between the axles with a maximum total capacity of 100 kWh. Enough energy to drive long journeys up to 700 kilometers, and which will power the various variable power versions.
