The new fourth generation Mitsubishi Outlander has won the highest safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, IIHS – Top Safety Pick +.
This means that the car has not only reliable passive systems (roll cage, crumple zones, airbags and belts), but also an advanced preventive safety complex that can automatically stop the car in an emergency.
The IIHS noted that such an assessment is applicable only to cars manufactured after June 2021: then Mitsubishi Motors made adjustments to the headlight adjustment (the light is also evaluated by experts). In this case, the owners of previously produced Outlander can call in to the dealer and correct the position of the lighting equipment.
The Top Safety Pick + rating is awarded to models that have coped well with six types of crash tests, including the most severe – frontal impact with a small (25%) overlap. Also, cars should be equipped with a frontal collision avoidance system capable of recognizing obstacles in the form of cars and pedestrians.
As a reminder, the fourth generation Outlander debuted in February. The car is built on the Renault-Nissan CMF-C / D platform, that is, it is the closest relative of the Nissan X-Trail. In the US, the car is sold with Nissan’s 2.5-liter PR25DD “aspirated”, developing 184 hp. and 245 Nm, and a variator that simulates eight virtual gears. Prices start at $ 25,795.
In Ukraine, the third generation Outlander is still offered at a price of 23,400 for a version with a 145-horsepower 2.0-liter engine and a CVT.
