Dodge has introduced a new development – Security Mode, or “Security Mode”, designed to protect the powerful Dodge Charger SRT and Challenger SRT from thieves. Its peculiarity is that in the event of a theft, it forcibly reduces the engine output to three horsepower, not allowing the criminal to quickly escape from the spot.
The mode works as follows: the car owner sets a four-digit code in the multimedia system, which must be entered before starting the engine. If there is a car thief in the car who has forged or stolen the key, but did not enter the code, then the electronics will not allow the engine to exceed idle speed – 675 per minute.
Thus, the muscle car engine will be able to develop no more than three horsepower and 30 Nm of torque, and the car will move very slowly. Probably, the hijacker himself will abandon the idea and leave the car. Otherwise, it will not be difficult to detain him: he will hardly have time to go far.
The development is intended for the Dodge Charger and Challenger, equipped with top-end HEMI V8 engines of 6.2 or 6.4 liters, and produced from 2015 to the present. The new mode will be available in late spring or early summer, and you can install it for free by contacting the official dealers of the brand.
