Hyundai has released tests on the smallest crossover


Hyundai has started testing the smallest crossover in the lineup, is built on the platform of the i20 hatchback. Spies was the first to photograph new pictures were in order of publication

Hyundai i20 subcompact generation was replaced in the spring of this year, and the company is already preparing to join the family of new model – compact crossover that replaced the elevated i20 hatchback Active. Unlike its predecessor, which differed from the standard i20 plastic body kit and ground clearance, crossover received the original body. The resemblance ends at the front part, while the stern is completely new, with an extended roofline, extended overhang and lights, the setting on the strut.

Judging by the only picture of the cabin, the design is completely borrowed from the i20: it is possible to notice digital instrument panel diagonal of 10.25 inches and the screen of multimedia system of the same size. The power plant also will move with the i20. Most likely, the crossover will be offered with 1.0-litre petrol engine in two variants of boost, 100 or 120 horsepower. And this engine put electric 48-volt add-on so that the crossover is a “soft hybrid”.

Transmission – six-speed manual or seven-speed robot with double clutch, front-wheel drive only.


The novelty will appear on the European market, where it will be positioned a step below Hyundai Kona. Crossover can show through 2020.

Earlier it became known that the family i20 will also include a sports car with the letter N in the title. Externally, the i20 N is different from standard model aerodynamic kit, wheels and larger dual exhaust pipes. “Charged” hatchback will debut in 2021, and will compete with the Volkswagen Polo GTI and Ford Fiesta ST.
