Together with its British partner ADL company BYD has released the first of 37 new all-electric double-Decker buses Enviro 400 EV. The first five electric buses entered service in London on line 43.
Enviro 400 EV based on well-known Enviro 200 EV, but the size of it more. The new aluminum body of the bus has a length of 10.9 meters, a height of 4.3 meters and a width of 2.55 meters. The bus is driven by the motor and iron-phosphate batteries with a capacity of 382 kWh, providing a cruising range on a single charge up to 250 kilometers.
Electric bus has been adapted to the requirements of the London bus operator Metroline. On the 1st floor there are 24 seats on the 2nd floor-with 43 seats.
“The launch of the new electric buses on route 43 – a triumph for both Metroline and London,” said Adrian Jones, technical Director of Metroline. “In close cooperation with the engineers of BYD and the ADL we designed the new buses, prototypes of which were repeated trials”.
Line 43, which will initially be used vehicle, runs from Friern Barnet to London Bridge – the total length of about nine miles. And, of course, new electric double-Decker buses painted red.
The BYD electric buses is more than 20% of the European market of electric buses.
