The Chinese concern Great Wall Motor announced at the Shanghai International Motor Show that the Tank trademark was spun off into an independent brand under which it is planned to produce SUVs.
For this event, the company has prepared three new cars, which it presented in Shanghai. We are talking about Cybertank, Tank 700 and Tank 800. Recall that Cybertank is a deep tuning of the serial Tank 300, including an original body kit, additional lighting equipment and white leather upholstery. The other two cars are prototypes of promising production models.
The Tank 700 is a compact five-door SUV with an exterior reminiscent of the classics. The car has an original body design with a two-volume profile and an abundance of sharp edges. In this car, the designers of Great Wall implemented the already forgotten style and technological solutions – an almost flat windshield, a voluminous roof panel, gutters, tailgate hinges brought out to the outside, taillights simple in shape.
If it weren’t for the intricate one-piece bumpers of the Tank 700, LED headlights and glued-in glass, one might think that we are looking at a car from the 80s. The interior and technical details about this development are still kept secret.
The larger Tank 800 SUV is the forerunner of the brand new full-size frame SUV. The car with a length of more than five meters stands out for its massive body shapes. With a glazing line, window sill stamping from nose to tail and a huge chrome grille, it vaguely resembles then Aurus Komendant.
Tank 800 will compete with Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX. The new car in the Great Wall promises a luxury cabin, a 3.0-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 354 hp. and a 9-speed “automatic”. Production versions of the Tank 700 and Tank 800 will be released in 2022.
