The American insurance Institute for highway safety (IIHS) introduces new criteria for higher rating of Top Safety Pick + according to the results of a series of crash tests. Innovations relate to the front optics and electronic assistants.
From 2020, the professionals will check the car headlamps. In order to earn the highest score, the car should be equipped with quality outdoor lighting. In addition, the appreciation will be awarded to the models equipped with system prevent frontal collisions. Also to receive the award Top Safety Pick + the vehicle must put on a good show during the strike, overlap with the front passenger side.
In the future, the IIHS will publish a rating of the safest cars until early next year, not in November and December, as was typical before.
According to the chief specialist IIHS David zubi, stricter requirements for safety of machines should encourage automakers to improve their products. This applies in particular to optics, as previously, experts have identified a significant problem in this area.
In 2018, they studied the lights 165 models, and found that more than half of them are not illuminating the road and blinding the drivers of oncoming cars. Then the worst was called optics Honda HR-V, and best – LED-headlights Mazda CX-3.
