The base model Roewe RX5 has already undergone a planned update, which turned out to be not too significant. But 2 years ago, a larger (albeit 5-seater) Roewe RX5 Max crossover appeared in the model family, and its update turned out to be more serious.
The design concept – now a completely different, two-story front design made the Roewe RX5 Max crossover more aggressive. Almost all exterior body panels, including the doors, have been redesigned to replace the classic natural grip handles with retractable handles. Also, the crossover has new lighting equipment, other bumpers, as well as side mirror housings. With the new tail, the crossover length has increased by 29 mm (up to 4676 mm), and the width has decreased by 16 mm (up to 1875 mm).
The interior of the Roewe RX5 Max is completely new, and the company’s designers have abandoned a vertical tablet for the entire center console. There are now two integrated displays without visors on the front of the car, both have a diagonal of 12.3 inches, one is responsible for the dashboard, the other for multimedia, climate control and other settings. Even the remaining “hot” buttons are touch-sensitive, including the “emergency” button. A new option for the Roewe RX5 Max is the Bose Sound System with 256 colors of light and music throughout the cabin.
For the modernized Roewe RX5 Max crossover, only one engine has been announced so far – this is a 1.5 turbo four, the performance of which has grown from 173 to 181 hp. Transmissions – 6-speed manual transmission or classic “automatic”. The pre-reform crossovers are also equipped with a 2.0 turbo unit (231 hp) with a 6-speed TST preselective “robot”, and only such cars can have four-wheel drive. The company expects that after the upgrade, the Roewe RX5 Max will be able to attract more young buyers. Sales of new items in the Chinese market will begin before the end of autumn 2021.
