Is Raptor no longer needed? Nissan unveils extreme version of Navara

In mid-June, Nissan Australia announced an extreme version of the Navara pickup called the PRO-4X Warrior. The car was presented without going into technical details, and only now the “Fighter” was revealed in all its glory. Prepared to tackle the toughest routes on the Australian continent, the pickup is built by local engineering firm Premcar. It is equipped with a lift suspension kit, new shock absorbers and springs, and a power front bumper with integrated lighting.

Premcar has 35 employees in the Warrior program. These are the engineers, technology and executives who participated in the creation of the Navara N-TREK Warrior in 2019, and have now decided to adapt the same formula to the PRO-4X. The main goals of the project are to improve the off-road capabilities of the pickup, increase comfort and control accuracy.

And first of all, Navara increased the ground clearance – from 220 to 260 millimeters. The angle of entry was 36 degrees versus 32 for the factory version, and the exit, due to the installation of a full-size spare wheel, on the contrary, decreased from 19.8 to 19 degrees. The track has been expanded from 1570 to 1600 millimeters.

Navara PRO-4X Warrior also received a winch-compatible power bumper, branded red protective plates made of 3mm steel and 17-inch wheels with Cooper Discoverer All Terrain AT3 tires in 275/70 / R17 dimensions. However, the most significant changes were made to the suspension.

Premcar replaced the front springs with softer ones, plus recalibrated the rear ones. The front shock absorbers have low-speed compression damping reduced, improving comfort and increasing road noise isolation. High speed compression and rebound levels, meanwhile, have been increased by 50 percent and 100 percent, respectively, to prevent the body from hitting the travel stop when driving over large bumps.

With all this, the engine of the Navara PRO-4X Warrior remains the same – a 2.3 diesel with 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Box – six-speed “mechanics” or seven-speed “automatic”. Full drive only.
