The premiere of the new generation of the GAC GS8 crossover took place two weeks ago, and now it became known that the first cars began to arrive at the disposal of Chinese dealers. Acceptance of orders for the car has not started yet, but should start before the end of August.
With the change of generation, the GS8 has grown in size, and also received a new design and an expanded list of options. Externally, the car differs from its predecessor by a different head optics, different rear LED lights, an enlarged radiator grille, massive bumpers and a modified glass line.
The length of the crossover has increased from 4836 mm to 4876 mm, width – from 1910 mm to 1950 mm, height – from 1770 mm to 1780 mm, and the wheelbase is 2920 mm versus 2800 for the pre-reform model. The architecture of the car has not changed – the transverse arrangement of the engine, basic front-wheel drive, MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link at the rear.
The new GAC GS8 will be sold in China in two versions: with a 2-liter petrol “supercharged” engine with a capacity of 252 horsepower, paired with an 8-band “automatic”, as well as with a hybrid power plant based on the same ICE, aggregated by an electromechanical variator THS (Toyota Hybrid System).
The list of crossover equipment will include: three-zone climate control, front and side collision avoidance system, adaptive cruise, all-round cameras and a panoramic roof.
Car prices have yet to be announced. According to preliminary information, for the new generation of GAC GS8 in China will be asked from 160 thousand yuan or $ 24,700 at the current rate.
