Recently, the first IVECO Group plant that does not emit harmful CO2 emissions was opened in Turin. The new ePowertrain facility of FPT Industries will specialize in the production of electric powertrains and battery packs for various vehicles of the concern. These are, for example, electric bridges for Nikola Tre heavy-duty tractors, as well as electric junction boxes and batteries for IVECO eDaily light delivery models. Both of these new electric vehicles were unveiled at the recent IAA Transportation 2022 exhibition in Hanover.

The ePowertrain factory covers an area of 15,000 square meters, of which 6,000 square meters are planted with drought-resistant plants that can absorb up to 7 tons of CO2 per year. The company uses electricity only from renewable sources – solar panels, wind turbines, etc.

At full capacity, the plant will employ up to 200 people, who will be able to produce up to 20,000 electric bridges and the same number of battery packs annually. Advanced Industry 4.0 technology is implemented here, including high warehouse automation, intelligent sensors, 3D scanners for metrology, augmented and virtual reality. All this improves quality, productivity, security, and optimizes logistics management.
