Jaguar has confirmed the release of the electric version of the new XJ

The flagship Jaguar XJ sedan new generation, which will release next year, will see a modification with a fully electric powertrain. About it reports a press-service of the British brand.

The basis of the next XJ will form the scalable architecture of the MLA, which provides for the use of traditional internal combustion engines and hybrid or fully-electric schemes. The company noted that the new flagship will retain the main advantages of its predecessor – “a beautiful appearance, excellent performance characteristics and proven a luxury.”

The novelty will be produced in the UK at the plant in castle Bromwich. The new XJ will be the first electrified model, produced at the capacities of this plant. At the moment hybrids of the brand Range Rover in Solihull to collect the English, and the electric crossover I Jaguar-Pace release in Austria at the Magna Steyr facilities.

According to unofficial data, the “green” Jaguar XJ will receive four electric motors with a capacity of 200 HP each and a set of batteries per 100 kilowatt-hours. In its dynamic characteristics and reserve the successor of the XJ will be able to compete, for example, the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan.

Production of the Jaguar XJ sedan of the current generation has been discontinued – the last car rolled off the production line in Solihull in early June. For nine years the British have sold more than 120 thousand cars. In the last time sales fell sharply. For example, in Europe, the Jaguar XJ has sold only 1099’s car, and in the U.S. the company sold 1579 machines.
