Jeep has announced the imminent market entry of plug-in hybrids on the basis of Renegade crossovers and Compass.

Until March 9 Jeep accepts online applications for SUVs in the version of the First Edition, and since the summer of 2020 vehicles will be in dealerships of the brand in Europe.

Machines in special version will vary over a wide range of options, sport appearance and a higher trim level.

The manufacturer reports that this is the first Jeep models with the technology of plug-in hybrid drive, is available in EMEA (Europe, middle East and Africa).

New Renegade and Compass 4xe 4xe equipped with a 1.3-liter gasoline turbo engine, which turns the front wheels.

On the rear axle is the electric motor, which allows the crossover to drive in full electric mode up to 50 km. the Maximum capacity of the powerplant makes 240 HP; four-wheel drive, as noted in the FCA, “always available”. Time of dispersal of hybrids from standstill to “hundreds” took about 7 seconds.

New items can move in several modes: hybrid, electric and economical E-save. The maximum speed that cars can develop into one electricity, is 130 km/h. In hybrid mode the car can accelerate to 200 km/h.


In the salons of “electrified” crossovers installed navigation system Uconnect with 8.4-inch touchscreen and 7-inch TFT display, shall be made where all information about the vehicle, including the battery level. New Renegade and Compass 4xe performed by the First Edition will cover 5-year warranty; separate battery warranty period will be 8 years. Part of the special version will be included in the standard car home charging station Hybrid Wallbox. The latter will work on the principle of “Plug & Play” and will allow you to charge the battery for 3.5 hours at an output power of 3 kW. In the future, users will be able to conduct a “upgrade” of the station and to bring the power output up to 7.4 kW, reducing the charging time to approximately 100 minutes. Equipment in this case will not have to change.

For the first time the news was unveiled at the international motor show in Geneva in 2019. At the beginning of 2020 for the 2020 CES electronics show in Las Vegas was shown a hybrid Jeep Wrangler. It is expected that Wrangler PHEV will be launched in mass production before the end of this year.
