Just the “yolk”: the new special version of the Fiat 500

The iconic Fiat 500 hatchback got an electric version of the Fiat 500e two years ago, but the Italian marque doesn’t forget about the traditional model with an internal combustion engine. So, the car received a nice performance called Giallissima: translated from Italian, this means “very yellow”, which accurately describes the features of the exterior and interior. The Fiat 500 Giallissima is only for the Japanese market. The circulation is limited: only 200 copies will be released.

The highlight of the 500 Giallissima is its bright yellow body color, which contrasts with the all-black rear-view mirror caps. The rest of the city car looks standard: it is equipped with 14-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights and halogen headlights.

The yellow color of the exterior is echoed by the design of the dashboard in the same color, on which the seven-inch touchscreen of the Uconnect multimedia system and the traditional round “tidy” are located. The seats are upholstered in dark blue fabric. Also included are a pair of USB ports and as many as seven airbags.

Under the hood is a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter four that develops 69 horsepower and 102 Nm of torque, which is equipped with the 500 in Japan. The motor is aggregated with a five-speed automatic, through which the thrust is transmitted to the front axle.

The Fiat 500 Giallissima will hit the Japanese market on March 5 and will be offered at a price of 2,330,000 yen ($20,200 at the current exchange rate).

In early February, Fiat introduced the new 500X Hybrid and Tipo Hybrid powered by Jeep’s 1.5 FireFly with 130 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-band “robot” with two clutches with an integrated traction electric motor with a power of 20 forces (55 Nm).
