The Korean company introduced the “refreshed” sedan for the American market at the auto show, which is being held in Chicago.
Current second generation KIA Cadenza entered the market in 2017. In the domestic market model is sold under the name K7. In the middle of last year “Korean” has undergone restyling, now it is time for the “chetyrehdverki” for the American market. Sales seriously dipped over the past two years: if in 2018 dealers in the United States have managed to implement at least 4507 machines (-37,8%), last year the figure dropped to 1630 instances (-63,8%).
Restyling Cadenza was on the way KIA K7 (the name to add the prefix Premier). The exterior of the sedan is upgraded at the expense of other bumpers, new led optics “Z-shaped” running lights, a larger grille, different lights, which is now connected across the entire width of the stern led by the dotted line. As standard available 18-inch wheels original design and the optionally available “rinks” 19 inches size.
In the salon KIA Cadenza has a new digital instrument panel with 4.2-inch screen and infotainment system, 12.3-inch touch screen (earlier it was 8 inches). The vents of the ventilation system is now placed lower and have a different form. In addition, the developers have redesigned the unit climate control, and a wireless 10-watt charger for smartphones.
The American version of the sedan received an updated set of assistants, including a warning system of a frontal collision, the detection of pedestrians and cyclists retention strip, the automatic switching beam in the middle, and a blind spot monitoring, cruise control and so-called “helper safe exit” (warns the driver and passengers that they did not open the door in the case that “catches” the oncoming traffic).
Unlike the restyled Korean K7, U.S. Cadenza will remain with the same motor. So, under the hood of the “chetyrehdverki” all the same uncontested 290-horsepower aspirated V6 3.3 litres (maximum torque is 343 Nm). It is paired with eight-speed automatic transmission Sportmatic.
Recall the sedan, designed for Korea, this engine just lost. In the domestic market model is offered with a new four-cylinder GDi (with a combined fuel injection) family Smartstream volume of 2.5-liter with 198 HP in Addition, in the range left of petrol and gas the 3.0-liter engine with the recoil 266 and 235 HP respectively, 202-horsepower CRDi turbo diesel volume of 2.2 liters, as well as a hybrid setup, which includes a 159-horsepower aspirated 2.4 MPI (159 HP) and 52-HP electric motor.
KIA will start selling the Cadenza in the States later this year. The sedan 2020 model year will be available only in two – primary and secondary – versions, as the top version was removed from the line (probably due to lack of demand). Prices not yet named and will be known closer to the launch date.
