KIA charging stations in Europe will use 100 percent wind energy

The KIA brand will use exclusively renewable energy for its European charging stations. So far we are talking only about wind farms, but in the future they will not be the only ones, writes Motor Trader.

KIA branded chargers are installed in the EU and the UK. For all the electricity that will pass through them, the automaker will acquire the so-called “Guarantee of origin” certificates. They will confirm that the appropriate amount of energy has been purchased from suppliers using wind turbines.

Thus, the electricity to the charging stations will not come directly from the “windmills”. But the amount spent will be fully compensated by the purchase of “green” energy from suppliers. Kia believes that such an approach will help popularize renewable energy sources, as well as stimulate demand for electric cars and hybrids among those who care about the environment.
