KIA EV6 was better than Ioniq 5

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has estimated the range of the KIA EV6 electric vehicle. At the moment, the indicators of three versions have been published, and they are all slightly better than those of the soplatform Hyundai Ioniq 5 with similar motors and batteries.

So, the basic rear-wheel drive KIA EV6 with a 170-horsepower electric motor and a 58 kilowatt-hour battery travels 373 kilometers through the EPA cycle – 19 kilometers more than the Ioniq 5. 228-horsepower rear-wheel drive KIA with a 77.4 kilowatt battery hours can cover 499 kilometers on a single charge (+11 km in comparison with Hyundai in the American specification). At the same time, in Europe, where the less rigorous WLTP method is used for measurements, the official power reserve of the same modification of the KIA EV6 is already 528 kilometers: according to the manufacturer, this roughly corresponds to the distance from Geneva to Paris.

Finally, according to the EPA, the all-wheel drive EV6 with a twin-engine 325-horsepower unit and a top battery should cover 441 kilometers from charge to charge – versus 412 km for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 tested in a similar cycle. For comparison, the estimate of the same KIA by WLTP is 506 km.

There is no information on other versions yet, and not only the top 589-horsepower EV6 GT sports car, but also the special version of the EV6 Long Range AWD First Edition, which, in fact, will begin deliveries of the model to the USA in the first quarter of next year … This assembly includes enlarged rims by default (20-inch versus the base 19-inch): colleagues from the American edition of InsideEVs suggest that the range of this crossover will be about 426 km.
