Land Cruiser 200 remains, though not Toyota…

The Chinese company Hengtian Automobile is preparing to launch the L4600 SUV with a design copied from the Toyota Land Cruiser 200. However, first, the Chinese decided to wait for the original to leave the market and replace it with a next-generation model with a different appearance. According to Sina.com.cn, the Hengtian L4600 will arrive at local dealers in the second half of 2021.

The frame full-size L4600 is intended to become the first model of this class for Hengtian, as the brand previously specialized in the production of pickups. They talked about the imminent appearance of new items on the Chinese market last year: the SUV was promised a multimedia system screen larger than that of the original Land Cruiser 200, wooden decorative inserts in the interior and leather seats.

As for the exterior design, then, apparently, the Chinese were inspired by two Toyota models at once: if the rear part is almost identical to the 2007 Land Cruiser 200, then the front of the car resembles the Land Cruiser Prado. The body panels and optics are also made with an eye on the Japanese originals. Under the hood, the Hengtian L4600 has a 4.6-liter Japanese gasoline engine that produces 286 horsepower. It works in tandem with a submachine gun.

In the second half of this year, when the Hengtian L4600 starts selling in China, the original Toyota Land Cruiser 200 will already retire – in the summer it will be replaced by a new generation model with an index 300. According to preliminary data, the Land Cruiser 300 will debut on May 31 or June 1. Meanwhile, in Japan, the SUV of the previous generation has already been removed from sales.

It remains to be seen whether Hengtian will have trouble with Toyota with the L4600 on sale.

Earlier, spy photos and videos of the new Toyota Land Cruiser appeared on the Web: it differs from the current SUV in the glazing line, optics, wider hood and design of the radiator grille.
