This year marks the 50th anniversary of the premiere of the Lamborghini Countach prototype at the Geneva Motor Show. It would be wrong on the part of the Sant’Agata Bolognese company to miss such an important event and not celebrate it properly. Apparently, a solution has already been found: at the Competition of Elegance in Pebble Beach, an homage supercar called the Countach LPI 800-4 will debut, which is likely to be based on the Sian hybrid.
The preview of the homage supercar was spotted in the Lamborghini Unica app. Now two screenshots and a teaser are circulating on the Web, where you can see the model name – Countach LPI 800-4 – and body parts: obviously, the air intake grille in the rear and the fuel filler cap. The alphanumeric index of the novelty is deciphered as follows: LPI – Longitudinale Posteriore Ibrido, or a hybrid with a rear longitudinal engine arrangement, 800 – power plant power, 4 – four-wheel drive.
According to insiders, the supercar will be based on the Sian FKP 37, that is, the new Countach will receive a bundle of aspirated V12 6.5 with a capacity of 785 hp. (720 N • m), a 34-horsepower electric motor and an ultracapacitor (supercapacitor) built into the seven-speed “robot” ISR, which is lighter and more powerful than traditional power sources. In Xi’an, a low-voltage electric superstructure helps the internal combustion engine accelerate at speeds up to 130 kilometers per hour and compensates for traction gaps in gear changes, making the supercar 10 percent faster.
At the same time, the combined power of the internal combustion engine and electric motor on the Sian FKP 37 reaches 819 forces and 758 Nm of torque. And the index of the new supercar says that it will have no more than 800 forces. There is speculation that Lamborghini deliberately reduced the power to give the car a slightly different character. However, all the details will become known very soon: the Elegance Contest in Pebble Beach will open its doors on August 15th.
