The Dutch company TomTom has published a new traffic index of the world Traffic Index 2021. It covers data from 404 cities in 58 countries on 6 continents. The rating is based on the congestion index, which is calculated by comparing the average travel time on free roads with the average travel time on similar routes at the most “traffic” time.
“In 2021, there was a noticeable increase in road congestion in Kyiv. The data shows that the average travel time has increased by 3 minutes per day,” the study notes.
The worst traffic jams were recorded in February and December 2021. The worst day for the people of Kiev last year was Monday, February 8, when the maximum average daily traffic congestion was 139%.
It is curious that the evening peak hours in Kiev have not changed since 2019. However, traffic congestion during morning traffic jams increased by 1 percentage point according to TomTom.
