Lexus has applied for registration of the trademark “LX600” at the Bureau of patents and trademarks United States that indicates that its flagship SUV could get a new engine.
In the United States the current top-end Lexus SUV sold only with the naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V8, providing 383 HP at 5,600 rpm and 403 Nm of torque at 3600 rpm like the LX 570. In other markets the Model is based on Toyota Land Cruiser is also available with a 4.5 liter turbodiesel engine rated at 268 HP at 3600 rpm and a torque of 650 Nm between 1600 to 2800 rpm as LX 450d.
If Lexus was to follow the same naming scheme, it would be wise to LX600 worked 6.0 litre V8 engine. However, as pointed out by Auto Guide, there is no certainty that the icon reflects the displacement of the vehicle engine because the numerical icons do not necessarily mean the size of the engines, especially with the advent of reduction. It would also be a bit strange to release the big 6.0-litre V8, specifically for the LX as Lexus does not currently produce such an engine.
With this in mind, of course, there is a possibility that Lexus instead of preparing to offer the LX with another engine from the family of Toyota, maybe a 3.5-liter V6 with twin turbo, which it already offers in vehicles, such as the LS500. Anyway, it is obvious that Lexus still sees some life in the current LX, even though it is on the market since the 2008 model year.
