Changan is preparing a new liftback, which should (at least in the Chinese market) challenge the Czech five-door Skoda Octavia. And if earlier the car was shown exclusively in spy photos, now its design is gradually declassified, depriving of camouflage disguise.
The new model will join the Uni series and join the advanced Uni-T and Uni-K crossovers. The name of the car has not yet been announced, but specialized media report that the car will be christened Uni-V.
As seen in the first teaser images, the liftback will receive a frameless radiator grille and hidden door handles similar to its SUV counterparts.
In addition, the car will get adaptive LED headlights, taillights united by a horizontal plate, consisting of many triangles, as well as two large exhaust pipes (they lit up in spy photos).
According to preliminary information, the new Changan liftback will be sold with the engines that are proposed for the Uni crossovers. We are talking about a 1.5-liter “turbo four” with a capacity of 180 horsepower, working with a 7-band “robot”, as well as a 2-liter 233-horsepower unit, combined with a classic 8-speed automatic transmission.
The premiere of the new Changan liftback is scheduled for the November Guangzhou Auto Show.
As with the Uni-K and Uni-T crossovers, the five-door will become a global model.
