Patent images of the next Lincoln sedan, the production version of the gorgeous Zephyr Reflection concept, have been posted online.
Earlier this year, Lincoln unveiled one of the most beautiful concept cars in recent memory, the Zephyr Reflection sedan concept. Its sleek proportions and modern detailing differ significantly from Lincoln sedans such as the Lincoln Continental. In August, it became known that an application for registration of a new trademark had been filed in the name of Zephyr, which gives hope that the production version of the concept will become a reality.
China’s Sun News has published patent images taken from the State Intellectual Property Office database of what appears to be a Zephyr product. While there are minor differences between the concept’s headlight and taillight design and these new proprietary images, the car still has the same sleek design and the same low, wide stance. Up front, it definitely resembles some Jaguar sedans, such as the discontinued XE.
Patent images show the unique wheel designs and the concept car’s unusually small rearview mirrors have been replaced with mirror housings that seem much more in line with the production model. The images do not show the interior, but the Zephyr Reflection concept impressed with its minimalist design with a huge horizontal display that stretched across the entire width of the dashboard.
When the concept debuted, a Lincoln spokesman said it was powered by a gasoline engine, so perhaps the production model would follow suit and ditch power entirely. Whatever the Lincoln sedan is based on, it should be awesome.
