Until recently, the longest-range electric vehicle ever to receive an official EPA range rating was the 19-inch Tesla Model S Long Range, a liftback capable of 405 miles on a single charge. (652 km).
Now, American officials have handed over the crown to the Lucid Air Dream Edition Range sedan: on wheels of the same size, it drives 520 miles (837 kilometers). And even if you put on a 21-inch set, the range will be 481 miles (774 km) – 122 km more than Elon Musk’s model.
At the same time, the Air Dream Edition Range is also one of the most powerful versions of the sedan from Lucid Motors: its power plant develops 947 hp. Above is only the 1,128-horsepower Air Dream Edition Performance, aimed at battling the 1,034-horsepower Tesla Model S Plaid. Depending on the wheels selected, the Performance variant has a range of 471 or 451 miles (758 and 726 km).
Both Dream Edition modifications cost $ 169 thousand, but now orders for them are no longer accepted: the limited edition is completely sold out, the production of customer copies has already begun at a new plant in Arizona, deliveries will be established by the end of this year.
As an alternative, Lucid Motors offers an 812-horsepower Air Grand Touring with a range of up to 516 miles (830 km) for $ 139,000. And there are a couple of simpler modifications – the 629bhp Air Touring for $ 95,000 and the 487bhp Air Pure for $ 77,400. Both are capable of traveling up to 406 miles (653 km).
In fairness, we add that more or less comparable Tesla in terms of characteristics cost less: for a twin-engined Model S Long Range in the US they now ask from $ 89,990, and for a three-engined Model S Plaid – from $ 129,990.
