Chinese automaker BYD, which produces including electric cars, announced that it has launched production of five million masks a day to combat the coronavirus, reports Reuters.
Located in Shenzhen, the company that has attracted American billionaire Warren Buffett, in late January, has started construction of a production line of masks. In addition, BYD has established production of 300 thousand bottles of disinfectant per day.
The company’s management has stated that it will distribute to all employees masks to ensure the normal workflow. Part of masks the company will give in Hubei province, the epicenter of the pandemic coronavirus, as well as in hospitals and on public transport.
On re-equipment of their production lines, said a number of Chinese industrial giants. For example, Foxconn is the main supplier of Apple – started production of medical garments and masks amid rising demand. The company SGMW, among the shareholders which General Motors and SAIG Motors, began to produce two million masks a day.
Recall that in the first half of February due to the outbreak of coronavirus, the sales of passenger cars in China fell by 92%.
