The new generation of the Mercedes-AMG SL roadster debuted at the end of October 2021 with a four-liter “turbo-eight” of two boost levels: 476 hp and 700 Nm, 585 hp and 800 Nm. For the first time in history, the model is equipped with an all-wheel drive transmission. The acceleration time of the top modification is only 3.6 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 315 km/h.
However, such enviable performance did not suit the Manhart Performance tuning studio, and the team rolled out their own version. The novelty is called Manhart SL 800 R, and it is distinguished by a matte black color, diluted with gold stripes.
The engine bay still houses the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, but its output has been significantly tweaked. Thanks to new turbochargers, an intercooler, an intake system and reprogramming of the engine control unit, performance has increased to 800 hp. and 1000 Nm. And all the power goes not to four wheels, but only to the rear axle.
Apparently the suspension has been rebuilt and the ride height lowered, but details of these updates are not available. But Manhart says the 800 R is offered with “additional options” for performance, exterior and interior. Pricing has not been mentioned, but the German company is already taking pre-orders. How long customers will have to wait is still unknown, because even Mercedes has not yet announced either the launch date for the assembly or the prices.
