The Porsche Cayenne Coupe crossover in a new, not yet presented version, set the Nurburgring record in the category “SUV, off-road vehicle, van, pick-up”. He overcame the northerly loop in seven minutes 38.925 seconds, displacing the Audi RS Q8 (7: 42.253) from the pedestal. The time, as well as the status of batch production, are notarized. The world premiere of the off-road vehicle will take place soon.
The record-breaking Cayenne Coupe was driven by Porsche test driver Lars Kern. The car is equipped with a racing seat and frame, as well as 22-inch Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires specially designed for the new model – they will be standard equipment. The crossover itself, according to the developers, is optimized to withstand the maximum levels of longitudinal and lateral overloads, and, in fact, is a development of the Cayenne Turbo Coupe modification.
“The car changed direction at lightning speed in fast corners between Hohe Acht and Eiskurve, without hesitation or tendency to understeer. Even in this technical section, the Cayenne proved to be a real driver’s car, which is easy to drive, ”Kern said after the race. And Stefan Weckbach, vice president of the Cayenne product line, added: “The Nürburgring record confirms the dynamic capabilities of the new crossover. But overall, this is a typical Cayenne, comfortable and practical in daily use. ”
The time 7: 38.925 turned out to be better than the achievements of the Audi RS Q8 (7: 42.253) and the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4Matic + (7: 54.40). The previous generation Porsche Cayenne Turbo S crossover in 2015 covered the Northern loop in 7 minutes 59.74 seconds. It was equipped with a 4.8 “biturbo-eight” with a capacity of 570 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, while the car of the third generation has a four-liter engine that will most likely produce 630 forces and 820 Nm.
