Maserati switches to electric traction

Maserati has announced the premiere of the first hybrid crossover. Electrification will overtake the Levante, and the debut of the version with a traction battery can be timed to coincide with the planned restyling of the family. The Italian company promises to publish all the details tomorrow – the online presentation will begin at 12:00 Kyiv time.

The technical stuffing of the Levante Hybrid will hardly come as a surprise: the crossover will probably get the same mild hybrid system as the Ghibli sedan.

In this situation, under the hood of the Levante there will be a gasoline 2.0-liter turbo engine with an electric supercharger, working in conjunction with a 48-volt starter-generator. The projected output is the same 330 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. In Maserati’s lineup, the hybrid is likely to replace the diesel six-cylinder.

Levante has been released for the fifth year, and against the background of declining sales, the crossover will not be hindered by a local update. Maserati is likely to improve the interior of the model, add a new infotainment complex Intelligent Assistant with a 10.1-inch display and a virtual dashboard to the SUV.

Very soon, another crossover will appear in the Maserati lineup – the compact Grecale. The debut date is still a secret, but there is no doubt that the model will debut before the end of 2021.
