Daimler has unveiled a new version of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class luxury sedan called “Edition 100”, prepared to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Maybach brand. The special edition of the model will be limited to 100 pieces.

The progenitor of the luxury German brand is considered to be the aircraft engine company Luftfahrzeug-Motorenbau GmbH, founded in 1909 by Wilhelm and Karl Maybach together with Ferdinand von Zeppelin.

At the same time, the Maybach W3 of 1921 is considered the first independent car of the brand. The limousine was equipped with a 5.7-liter engine producing 70 hp, which allowed the car to accelerate to 110 km per hour. In total, just over 300 units were produced. model, which at that time was one of the most luxurious and expensive cars in the world. Until now, not a single copy has survived.

As for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Edition 100, the novelty differs from the standard sedan by a special combination of “Cirrus Silver” and “Nautical Blue” colors applied to the body by hand, as well as an emblem with the name of the special series on the rear pillars.

The car was equipped with the most powerful classic internal combustion engine in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. It is a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 petrol engine producing 612 horsepower. The unit, acting in conjunction with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system, allows the big sedan to accelerate to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Edition 100 will go on sale next year. Car prices have not yet been announced.
